"A Divinely Twisted, Brilliantly Conceived, Game of the Mind."
It's the reason you can't make sense of your life. But there is a path that leads to lasting happiness. And the journey begins now.
When you think of the word alien what comes to mind? Do you think of the diminutive master Yoda of Star Wars fame or perhaps something more sinister like the chest-popping creature from the Alien movie series. From a more local perspective, you may think of weary-eyed foreigners attempting to cross a border into an imagined promise land. In both cases, the term is used to describe someone or something that simply isn't from around here. And more often than not, it's a term of derision meant to demean those to which it's assigned. For the purposes of this post, I'm going to be joining the two examples cited previously--that of an otherworldly being and a human crossing borders--in an effort to demonstrate that you, me and every other human on this planet are in fact "not from around here," and I'll start to make that case with a quote from A Course in Miracles that describes with stark honesty the source of all human suffering: This world you seem to live in is not home to you. And somewhere in your mind, you know that this is true. A memory of home keeps haunting you, as if there were a place which calls you to return, although you do not recognize the voice, nor what it is the voice reminds you of. Still do you feel an alien here, from somewhere all unknown. Nothing so definite that you could say with certainty you are an exile here; just a persistent feeling, sometimes not more than a tiny throb, at other times hardly remembered, actively dismissed, but surely to return to mind again. As you might have guessed, the inspiration for this blog and the foundation on which the myriad levels of The One Game are built can be found in this lesson. I can relate to experiencing a sense of nagging loss for some thing that remains indefinite, but of seeming great importance. At times it feels as though I'm playing a cruel game governed by rules I don't understand and offering odds that seem hopelessly stacked against me and that somehow it's this thing that's keeping me from finding what I've lost. How about you? Can you relate to that sense of lack or longing in your own life? What we're experiencing is, in fact, a game but one of our own making. We conceived The Game, set the rules, defined the players, and made the vast field of play that we commonly refer to as the visible universe. Space, time, matter, and gravity are simply some of the myriad attributes that we've assigned to The Game to make it both challenging and hyper-realistic. And to drive the story forward with the necessary degree of drama that humans seem to enjoy so dearly, we attempt to fill the imagined hole in our being with all manner of worldly substitutes like money, sex, and drugs, while projecting onto others our daily frustration with our chosen idols inability to fill the void. How is all this possible? The answer is the collective power of our minds, and that's where the One of The One Game comes in. It's been described in various ways, including collective consciousness or consensus reality, but the results are the same. Every sentient being on Earth, and in the entire universe for that matter, shares a unified mind that powers the illusion of our perceived reality. The purpose of this blog is to break down the various aspects of The One Game to transform seeming fantasy into a more reason- and fact-based explanation of how it's possible that you not only play The One Game, but that you are The One Game.
